I have always enjoyed reading but for some reason I do more of it in winter than summer.
I always try to read during summer holidays or in the garden on a sunny evening but can never get as involved in the book.
Wonder if others are like this or is this one of my many idiocies.
The last few days have been crazy. It feels like I haven’t stopped. Travelling around the countryside to drop off kids at parties and clubs they are part of.
Of course none of the times line up so I’ve spent the majority of the time in the car.
One of the things I did see though was a house decorated for Christmas.
I was about to go off on a rant about how it was too early when my eldest said something that never crossed my mind.
He said “Maybe they are having a Christmas party for someone who’s going away and won’t be around for Christmas”.
There is always another way to look at things. He really did put me in my place.
The amount of years I have been married.
Still to this day my wife amazes me. So kind, intelligent, beautiful and loving.
She makes me smile every day.
So the kids have started to decorate the house for Halloween, which is grand, I love this time of year.
What I didn’t love was the fact some one had put their ghost face mask in between the coats on the hat stand.
Freaked me out as I came down the stairs. Heart pounding moments.
Can’t shout at the kids though, love the creativity for where they think a good place for scary things are.
Breaking the routine when dieting is the hardest thing. Normally I have cereal for breakfast, then a sandwich for lunch and whatever is made for dinner depending on who’s home first. After kids go to bed maybe a bit of a snack with a cup of tea will watching TV.
Now I’m getting up early, cooking some sort of egg based breakfast, then some sort of salad for lunch, and again dinner is still and there are no more snacks at night.
It’s harder work but worth it. The gym routine is not as regular as the eating and that needs to change.
Well this week I’m back at the scales and again 2lbs off. It’s not a lot but enough. As long as it’s going down.
Also have made a brave and bold decision to help with the weight loss.
No more bread.
Now I know this isn’t a new thing for most but for me, it’s massive.
I will miss bread so much. I bake a lot from scones to pizza bases, iced fingers to bagels. I have a love relationship with beard products and I’m saying goodbye.
Will power assemble.
With my eldest at a scout trip and my wife on a course, I had a rare day to spend with my 7 year old.
I gave him the controls and said it was up to him to decide what to do.
First we went to play mini golf. He was super excited to get 2 hole in one. But I still beat him. Just saying.
Second he wanted to go the the aquarium. It has recently be renovated and looks great. So why not.
The otters where his favourite and he loved watching them play.
After a cup of coffee (for me) and a juice (for him), we headed home, as we pulled out of the car park he said it was the best day ever.
I think I might be doing this father thing alright.
